Why Public Art?

The Dedham Public Art Project recognizes that public art creates a unique sense of place, enjoyment and pride for Dedham residents and visitors. Our mission is to enrich public spaces, increase appreciation of the arts, and spark civic engagement through original public art that celebrates Dedham's complex historic, natural, and cultural resources.

Dedham Public Art 2012

Picture
Rabbit Project
In 2012 fifteen artist-painted, fiberglass crouching rabbit sculptures were placed throughout Dedham in public locations for display over several months. The project generated enthusiasm for art and raised funds for the continued promotion of art in the community. The crouching rabbit form celebrated Dedham's history as the home of the revered Dedham Pottery, which was produced in Dedham from 1896 to 1943. The Dedham rabbit is an iconic image that is recognized worldwide.
